Sweets & Treats = 1 serving per day

This is your sweet treat during the day. Choose treats made from the Four Food Groups, best if homemade, but there are some “safe” foods on the market, just be sure to “Read the Ingredients!” and keep the suggested serving.

Treats might include the following:

1. Cookies (The Happy Herbivore has several good recipes)
2. Banana ice cream (cream ripe bananas, add vanilla and freeze)
3. Vegan muffins (no eggs, substitute flax seed or EnergG Egg Replacer and applesauce for oil) *
4. Fruit sorbet (NOT sherbet — sherbet is made from dairy, sorbet is — or should be — all fruit)
5. Vegan cupcake
6. Apple Crisp (or other fruit of your choosing: peaches, berries, etc., using “safe” sugars)
7. Black Bean Brownies (from Happy Herbivore cookbook – delicious!)

* Look for a Blog post to come on substituting eggs and oil in recipes.
